Path of Lanterns is the newest Titan-mode map. It’s a struggle between Ancient Samurai and Mecha Sumo Titans along a cliff side that wraps around the outside of the map. There is a single large creep spawn in the middle that both sides must fight to control, while a rare Golden creep wanders around the cliffs.
Players spawn on the far edges of the map inside one of two temples. To the north is each team’s power core, located at the ends of each team’s path. Heading toward the center of the map from the spawns, the players will need to cross the Titan path, which loops out along the cliff. A small sniper pagoda lies to the south for each team, which provides long-range support for controlling the Titan lane.
The key to controlling Path of Lanterns is the middle arena area. It provides access to the creeps, the quickest routes, and the only flank routes in the map. First, there’s a flanking path along the north side near the waterfall that allows players to get to the enemy power core in a very short amount of time. This path has a bridge extending over the creep spawns into the central temple.
Then there’s the main path that leads right into the heart of the central temple, the primary high-ground that players will want to control in order to farm creeps safely. This path has access to both the northern and southern halves of the creep spawn.
Next there are three paths near the southern cliffs that players will want to control in order to get behind enemy lines during Titan battles or to defend from flanks. Finally, players can jump on top of the walls for a huge height advantage with the help of a Speedy Shotgun or Major Tom Legs.
Path of Lanterns is a favorite map of everyone internally at Human Head, and it represents the highest quality Titan Mode map released so far. From the tight gameplay spaces to the beautiful visuals to the awesome new Titans, Path of Lanterns has something for every Minimum fan. We think this map represents the quality bar that all our maps should reach, and we’ll be going back over some of our older Titan Mode releases to bring them up to match it.
See you under the archways!
